Alberta: Self-Employed Farmer Stream

This AINP stream allows individuals with farming experience and personal funds to purchase and develop a farm in Alberta to apply for permanent residence. Applicants must be able to prove that they have farm management skills. Proof of this may include below items, but is not limited to:

  • Financial documentation of an existing farm business
  • Documentation of education, training and work experience
  • A proposed business plan for the farming enterprise you are considering in Alberta
  • Proof that a Canadian financial institution is willing to finance your proposed farming business


Eligibility Criteria: Currently there are three immigration programs under Express Entry by Federal government and each has different requirements. Following are the programs identified under Express Entry

  • Entrepreneur stream : It requires net worth of 600K for people in GTA and 400K of investment to live in GTA. For people outside of GTA in Ontario requires net worth of 400K and investment of 200K.

This category is for individuals who wish to own and actively operate a business or farming operation in Saskatchewan.

  • Entrepreneur : This sub-category under SINP is for individuals who would like to invest in management talent and capital in province of Saskatchewan by establishing, acquiring, or partnering in a business in the province of Saskatchewan. Candidates are expected to take on an active management role in their business. This sub-category under SINP functions as Express of Interest. Person must hold at least 33.3% ownership and investment of company should be at least 1 million.
  • Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category : This sub-category under SINP is for experienced farmers having considerable capital looking to invest in a farming operation and settle in the province of Saskatchewan.
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Category : This category under SINP is for international students graduating from eligible post-secondary institutions from province of Saskatchewan and who are planning to start a business in the province. Approved candidates will have to operate and manage a business in the province of Saskatchewan for at least a year to be eligible for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

  • BC Regional Pilot Entrepreneur PNP : The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot (EI – Regional Pilot) is designed to attract entrepreneurs from around the world to establish businesses in regional communities. This will help meet the communities’ economic development needs and encourage investments outside urban areas of British Communities.
  • BC Base Entrepreneur PNP : This stream for entrepreneur who want to live in BC and have net worth of at least 600K and ready to invest 200K CAD.
