The expiry date (mentioned in your permit) is usually the length of your study/work permission in Canada, extra 90 days gives you time to prepare to leave Canada or to extend your Study/Work permit to stay in Canada.
Extension of Study Permit:
International students studying in Canada must hold a valid study permit. In the event that an international student will take longer than expected to complete their program of study, or if they transfer to a longer program of study, there is a strong likelihood that they will have to apply to extend their study permit.
Candidate must:
- look for the expiration date on the top right corner of the document. This date should be 90 days after your study program ends;
- renewal application to be submitted in prescribed time frame wit correct answers as asked in the application form;
Extension of Work Permit:
It is always necessary to comply with the timeline in case if an extension of work permit is to submitted. Extension application to be submitted at least 30 days prior to expiry of current work permit. Work permit cannot be extended beyond the validity of passport of the applicant.
